As a non local and a fan of biriyanis, I wanted to try the famous Shah Ghouse mutton biriyani. Ordered Mutton seekh kebab and mutton biriyani. The spices and the meat mix in seekh kebab was just right and mutton had its characteristic gamey taste, a bit dry for my liking. However, the mutton in the biriyani lacked gamey flavour. Nevertheless it was well marinated and cooked. Long grained, fluffy, flavoured rice and their baigan bartha were the highlights. Bartha was tangy and nutty because of peanuts. Staff could be a little more responsive. The ambience needs a lot more than fix. Overall, food here will not disappoint you, if lacks in service and ambience are ignored.

See all on GoogleAfter visiting Golconda fort, we decided to have lunch at a food spot in Tolichowki. With a little hesitation we chose the legendary Shah Ghouse restaurant and tbh it turned out to be a wise decision later. We badly wanted to taste their biriyanis, so ordered mutton and chicken biriyani. It was one of the finest biriyanis we had from Hyderabad, not too spicy but rich in flavour. The chicken and mutton were tender and delicious. The staff were polite and cordial. The ambience was quite, neat and simple but decent. The apricot delight dessert was also good. (24.08.2026)
Came all the way from Kuwait to Mysore to Hyderabad just to taste authentic Hyderabadi Biryani. Shah Ghouse: Extremely spicy, taste was not up to expectation. 2.5/5 ⭐ Shadab: Authentic, aromatic and well-balanced dum biryani. Truly lived up to the hype. 4.5/5 ⭐
Me & my friend tried the famous biryani of Hyderabad in Shahgouse restaurant which is located in Tolichowki. We ordered 1 chicken biryani & 1 mutton biryani ., the taste was good masha allah … but the ambience and wash basin area need to improve.
We recently went for lunch . ambience is okay . Then ordered murgh mussulam gravy, dal fry , garlic naans and laccha parathas. The chicken pieces within the gravy are little bit hard but gravy is great in taste
