See all on GoogleMust try : Meals 👍🏻 dosa 👍🏻 grape juice 👍🏻 Some places you visit once just for the experience, and then end up going back because you actually loved the food. MTR was exactly that for me. ❤️ First visit: Rava Idli, Masala Dosa, Bisi Bele Bath, Khara Bath and, obviously, Filter Coffee. Everything was simple, fresh and so comforting. I liked it enough to come back for a second visit just for the meals 🍛 And honestly, the traditional MTR meal was the highlight for me. Nothing fancy, just good, homely South Indian food served the way it should be. And then there’s the whole old-Bangalore vibe—the busy tables, the traditional setup and the feeling that you’re sitting in a place that has been part of the city for generations. 10+ visits already… and I’d happily go again! ❤️
A legendary restaurant... Full marks to their pure vegetarian meal which we had during lunch. Caution - skip a meal earlier if you actually want to enjoy their MTR special meal... Each item has a distinct flavour and compliments the other item beautifully... The meal is served in a sequence and the culinary experience elevates with each leval... Go for it....
MTR (Mavalli Tiffin Room) – A True Taste of Bangalore’s Culinary Heritage If you want to experience the authentic food culture and heritage of Bangalore, a visit to MTR is absolute must. It is less of a standard meal and more of a cultural rite of passage for food lovers. Rava Idli (Must-Try): Hands down the star of the show. Pouring the warm, rich ghee over the soft rava idli wakes up your taste buds instantly. It is worth the visit alone. Masala Dosa, Khara Bath & Podi Masala Dosa: Decent overall, but keep your expectations grounded. While good, they don't quite hit the legendary mark that the rava idli sets. Beat the Crowds: Avoid weekends if possible, as it gets extremely packed. Seating System: Head straight upstairs to put your name down on the waiting list as soon as you arrive. MTR offers a timeless look into Old Bangalore's rich breakfast traditions. Definitely worth a visit for the experience!
Had a wonderful experience at MTR! I tried the Masala Dose, Rave Idli, Bisibele Bath, and Filter Coffee, and everything was excellent. The Masala Dose was perfectly crisp, the Rave Idli was soft and flavorful, and the Bisibele Bath was rich and satisfying. The Filter Coffee, served in a traditional silver tumbler, made the experience even more special and authentic. The service was quick, the staff were courteous, and the restaurant was clean and well maintained. Highly recommended, and I'll definitely visit again!
